Single Stream

Recycling on Fort Drum is now easier than ever. All military buildings have now transitioned over to single stream recycling. Please follow the guidance on the flyer posted here.

Single-stream recycling is ALL-IN-ONE RECYCLING, NO BAGGING NO SORTING. Important to remember–NO plastic bags or films allowed with recyclables, NO foam (Styrofoam) products, and NO shredded paper.

NON-RECYCLABLE TRASH/GARBAGE – Discard trash in Fort Drum dumpsters.

RECYCLABLES– Public Works Recycle & Refuse pick up recyclables on a scheduled basis, special pickups by request 315-772-5944.

HAZARDOUS WASTE – For pickup please call: YOU CALL, WE HAUL 315-772-5977. Hazardous waste items are prohibited in all Fort Drum installation dumpsters.

WOOD PALLETS/SKIDS – Collect and deliver serviceable and unserviceable pallets to the Solid Waste Transfer Station, Bldg 11001, Iraqi Freedom Drive. Transfer Station hours of operation are 0700–1430, Monday through Friday 315-772-5944.

GOVERNMENT OWNED ELECTRONIC WASTE – Institutional e-waste can be turned in to the Directorate of Logistics Supply and Services Division, Property Book Office; 4525 Camp Hale Road 315-772-5941.

Most toner and ink cartridges from printer, copiers and fax machines can be turned in for recycling with LCI-SSSC Bldg. 1100, Ontario Ave 315-773-3121.

REFRIGERATORS & OTHER WHITE GOODS – Call DPW Service Order Desk at 315-772-5495 to arrange turn-in.

USED DRY SWEEP, PETROLEUM SLUDGES, PETROLEUM CONTAMINATED SOILS – Bring waste to Bldg. 2018 Tuesday 1300-1500. For emergencies, call 315-772-0367.

USED OIL FILTERS – Drain filters for 24 hours. Bring filters to Bldg. P-3829 for crushing on Tuesdays 1300-1500 or call 315-772-0367 for an appointment. For general guidance on used oil filter management, call 315-772-4154.

USED OIL/OFF-SPECIFICATION FUEL – Place oil in Environmental Office approved tanks and containers. For pick-up or pumping of full containers, call 315-772-0367. For general guidance on used oil management, please call 315-772-4154.

ANTIFREEZE – Place used antifreeze in Environmental Office-approved containers. For pick-up or pumping of full containers, call 315-772-0367. For general guidance on used oil management, please call 315-772-4154.

PARTS WASHER FLUID – For pick-up of spent parts washer fluid for recycling, call 315-772-0367.

BULK WASTE – Place bulk waste items in any of the twenty-two BULK WASTE Dumpsters on post. Questions please call Public Works Recycle & Refuse 315-772-5944.

BATTERIES – For lithium, NICAD, Nickel-Metal Hydride batteries and rechargeable batteries – call “You Call – We Haul” service for pick-up, 315-772-6111. Lead acid batteries must be taken to Bldg. 4530 315-772-5961.

5-CENT RETURNABLE BOTTLES & CANSDO NOT place in trash. Redeem your cans & bottles in machines at local retail stores and redemption centers. At a minimum please place in appropriate recycling containers.

PHARMACEUTICALS – Take all pharmaceuticals (prescription) to Guthrie Pharmacy, Bldg. P-11050 off Mt. Belvedere, for free turn-in. Monday through Thursday 0800-1700 and Friday 0800-1200. 315-772-3696.

PLASTIC GROCERY BAGS – Plastic grocery bags, shrink wraps and films should no longer be placed in your general recycling. To recycle these please take to a participating retailer. Many local grocery stores have plastic bag and film receptacles at the front of their store.

TEXTILES. The DPW has established a comprehensive textile recycling program for use by all Fort Drum personnel. All Fort Drum personnel are strongly encouraged to participate in the textile recycling program. Textiles must be clean and dry, examples are: all footwear (singles also), all clothing (holes, missing buttons, broken zippers also fine), all linens (including sheets, comforters, towels etc.), accessories (duffle bags, purses, belts, gloves, ties, scarves, robes, stuffed animals, etc.).
