NOTE: ONLY REFUSE GENERATED BY INSTALLATION ACTIVITIES AND UNIT TRAINING IS ALLOWED FOR DISPOSAL UTILIZING GOVERNMENT ASSETS. IT IS A VIOLATION OF FEDERAL AND STATE LAW AND U. S. ARMY REGULATION TO DISPOSE OF PERSONAL REFUSE GENERATED OUTSIDE THE INSTALLATION.

NON-RECYCLABLE TRASH/GARBAGE – Refuse is to be bagged in clear plastic bags and dropped into assigned dumpsters or brought to the Installation Transfer Station, building 11001 (located off of Iraqi Freedom by the Installation’s Main Gate) for processing.

RECYCLABLES – All recyclable materials generated from field exercises are to be brought to the Installation Transfer Station, building 11001 (located off of Iraqi Freedom by the Installation’s Main Gate) for processing. Hours of operation are Monday – Friday, 0700-1500.

Single Stream

Recycling on Fort Drum is now easier than ever. On 1 October 2016, Fort Drum transitioned to Single Stream Recycling in all military buildings to include barracks, motor-pools, offices, and shops. No sorting or bagging is required!

WOOD PALLETS, LUMBER, AND CONTAMINATED CARDBOARD – Collect and deliver serviceable and unserviceable pallets, lumber, and contaminated cardboard to the Solid Waste Transfer Station, Bldg. 11001, Iraqi Freedom Drive. Call the Transfer Station for hours of operation; 315-772-5944.

HAZARDOUS WASTE – For pickup please call: YOU CALL, WE HAUL 315-772-6111.

Hazardous waste items are prohibited in all Fort Drum installation dumpsters.

GOVERNMENT OWNED ELECTRONIC WASTE – Institutional e-waste can be turned in to the Directorate of Logistics Supply and Services Division, Property Book Office; 4525 Camp Hale Road 315-772-5941.

Most toner and ink cartridges from printer, copiers and fax machines can be turned in for recycling with LCI-SSSC Bldg. 1100, Ontario Ave; 315-773-3121.

USED DRY SWEEP, PETROLEUM SLUDGES, PETROLEUM CONTAMINATED SOILS – Bring waste to Bldg. 2018 Tuesday 1300-1500. For emergencies, call 315-772-0367

USED OIL FILTERS – Drain filters for 24 hours. Bring filters to P-3829 for crushing on Tuesdays 1300-1500 or call 772-0367 for an appointment. For general guidance on used oil filter management, call 315-772-4154.

USED OIL/OFF-SPECIFICATION FUEL – Place oil in Environmental Office approved tanks and containers. For pick-up or pumping of full containers, call 315-772-0367. For general guidance on used oil management, please call 315-772-4154.

ANTIFREEZE – Place used antifreeze in Environmental Office-approved containers. For pick-up or pumping of full containers, call 315-772-0367. For general guidance on used antifreeze management, please call 315-772-4154.

PARTS WASHER FLUID – For pick-up of spent parts washer fluid for recycling, call 315-772-5977.

BULK WASTE – Place bulk waste items in any of the BULK WASTE Dumpsters on post. Questions please call Public Works Recycle & Refuse; 315-772-5944.

BATTERIES – Rechargeable batteries (nickel-cadmium, lithium ion, nickel metal hydride and other dry cell rechargeable batteries) and non-rechargeable hazardous batteries, please call YOU CALL, WE HAUL 315-772-6111. Lead-acid and sealed acid batteries should be turned into DOL-SMA, Bldg. P-4530 315-772-5961.

5-CENT RETURNABLE BOTTLES & CANSDO NOT place in trash. Redeem your cans & bottles in machines at local retail stores and redemption centers. At a minimum please place in appropriate recycling containers (metals, glass, plastics).

MILITARY TIRES – Military Units will need to work through their SSA contact.

PLASTIC GROCERY BAGS – Recycle bins for plastic bags can be found at any local retail stores and at Fort Drum AAFES location.
